PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-base protective coating compsn. which can form a fabricable, weldable, and removable coating film on a metal substrate. SOLUTION: This compsn. contains an acid-functional polymer neutralized with a base and a lubricant. The polymer is obtd. from an ethylenically unsatd. monomer component contg. at least 5wt.% acid-functional monomer and has a glass transition point of -30 deg.C to 100 deg.C and a wt. average mol.wt. (by gel permeation chromatography) of 1,000-90,000. The lubricant is selected from among waxes, silicone fluids, molybdenum disulfide, graphite, hydrocarbon oils, vegetable oils, and fatty acids. The compsn. further contains about 0.001-1wt.% (based on the resin solid content) removability-improving means contg. an inorg. acid, its salt with a monovalent cation, or a mixture thereof. |
