PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for suppressing the precipitation of carbon on a catalyst and alleviating the deterioration of the catalyst in producing an alkene by dehydrogenation of an alkane in the presence of a dehydrogenation catalyst. SOLUTION: A raw material alkane and hydrogen are supplied by using a catalyst obtained by supporting platinum and tin on a complex carrier which is prepared by supporting zinc oxide onγ-alumina carrier having >=150m<2> /g surface area, >=0.55cm<3> /g pore volume, 90-200 angstrom pore diameter and comprising >=60% based on the total pore volume of pore volume having 90-200 angstrom pore diameter as a dehydrogenation catalyst.
