The ladder has steps (1) and a support (2) joined by a hinge (7) at the top. The support has two uprights (3) joined by one or more spacers (4). Each upright (3) is made of two wooden components, the first (8) provides lateral stabilisation to the ladder and the second (9) runs along the line of natural flexion of the first component. The two components (8, 9) are arranged at right angles to each other forming a T or L shape once assembled. One of the spacers (4) moves inside a guide rail (10) and fits into a shaped section (11), locking the ladder in the open position.
