The wider area of the packing is formed as fixing strips (10) which passes round the object (3) like a strap, at least in the area protruding from the front side of the main face (4) of the blank. The fixing strip may in band-form, passing round the object and packing blank. The fixing strip on its free ends has a number of locking tabs (11) which engage in a slot (13) formed in the side of a locating cut-out.
