The fault signal extraction method has at least one sensor (10), detecting the acceleration of the positioned tool (4) in at least one coordinate direction of the tool positioning movement and at least one further sensor (12), detecting the acceleration of the target object (3) in at least one coordinate direction of the target object movement. A difference signal is provided from the detected accelerations of the tool and the target object, directly, or after integration of the detected accelerations.
