PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the detection accuracy of an original without reducing original reading reproducibility even in the case of adopting an original depressing member using an wavelength absorbent which is not colorless in a visible region. SOLUTION: This device is constituted of an original depressing means capable of depressing an original to be read out and formed by applying/mixing an wavelength absorbent to an original depression face, a light source for applying light to be absorbed by the wavelength absorbent, an infrared light separation filter 101 for separating reflected light having absorbed wavelength out of reflected light from the surface of the original, an infrared CCD 102 for receiving an optical signal through the filter 101 in each line and outputting a photoelectrically converted signal, and a detection part 104 for detecting the original from the optical signal received by the CCD 102. In this case the detection part 104 discriminates whether the intensity of the optical signal outputted from the CCD 102 is included in a prescribed range or not by using 1st and 2nd thresholds for regulating a previously set prescribed range for the optical intensity of infrared light absorbing wavelength to discriminate an original part or a non-original part and detect the original. |
