PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a human endothelial cell growth factor containing a specific amino acid sequence and useful for the regeneration or damage cure of blood vessels and other endothelial cell-based structures. SOLUTION: This human endothelia cell growth factor comprises an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of an amino acid sequence of formula I, an amino acid sequence of formula II and the amino acid sequence of formula I or II which contains additionally an NH2 -terminal methionine residue, and does substantially not contain other proteins originated from man. The human endothelial cell growth factor preferably contains a polypeptide sequence elongated from the NH2 -terminated amino acid of human endothelial cell growth factor.
