PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus low in operation cost, not troublesome in maintenance and capable of efficiently performing the recording of a margin. SOLUTION: This recording apparatus is constituted so that an image is recorded on the effective recording region on a recording medium on the basis of the image data transmitted from a host by using recording heads 104a-104d and, on the basis of the format data indicating the arrangement of the image formed based on the image data on the recording medium, recording is uniformly applied to the margin region where the image on the recording medium is recorded by recording heads 104A, 104Z using inexpensive inks having predetermined densities. In order to perform recording to the margin region, the recording heads 104A, 104Z are controlled so as to be used alternately. The ink tanks 105A, 105Z supplying inks to the recording heads 104A, 104Z are made large in vol. and the resolving powers 104a-104d of the recording heads are higher than those of the recording heads 104A, 104Z. |
