The invention relates to a device for volume control in case of blood loss, in particular during anaesthesia and the use of acute hypervolaemic haemodilution and acute normovolaemic haemodilution. The device comprises a near-infrared spectrum photoplethysmographic sensor (5) to measure extinction of total haemoglobin, oxygenated haemoglobin and possibly also reduced haemoglobin. The device also features a temperature sensor (6) to measure peripheral body temperature, a further temperature sensor (7) to measure central body temperature, as well as a measuring device to determine the amount of infusion solution administered. The sensors and measuring device are connected to a computer (2) with monitor (3) and keyboard (4). This device, combined with constant monitoring, enables the physician to administer colloidal infusion solutions in a targeted manner, so that blood transfusions can be reduced considerably. |
