BACKING DEVICE FOR BRINGING MAGNETIC MEDIUM INTO CONTACT WITH MAGNETIC READING AND WRITING HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely create the sufficient contact between a magnetic head and a magnetic medium in order to ensure the good reading and writing of magnetic data. SOLUTION: A backing implement 37 between the head and the medium includes a rigid frame 38 for supporting an elastically deformable leaf spring 40 for engaging the magnetic medium so as to bring the medium into contact with the magnetic head 14. The rigid frame 38 supports one set of attachment elements 42, 44, 52 to assure both ends 46, 48 of the leaf spring 40. These attachment elements 42, 44, 52 are so constituted that the leaf spring 40 curves to a projecting shape and forms a smooth arc 50 parting from the rigid frame 38 while both ends thereof are held fixed to the rigid frame 38 so as not to rotate relatively thereto when the leaf spring 40 is mounted between these elements. As a result, the central part of the arc 50 may be deformed to be approach near toward the rigid frame 38 while both ends of the leaf spring 40 are held fixed to the rigid frame 38 so as not to rotate thereto when the magnetic head 14 is pressed to the central part of the arc 50.
