PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record/reproduce an image through the selective use of two kinds or over of recording and reproducing devices whose recording media differ depending on the application and to record-/reproduce an image through the selective use of a moving image companding system depending on the application among two kinds of moving image companding systems or over. SOLUTION: The video camera has a video camera section 1 and a recording and reproducing device section 2 as separate units, two kinds of recording and reproducing devices or over among an optical disk recording and reproducing device, a hard disk recording and reproducing device, a removable hard disk recording and reproducing device, a tape recording and reproducing device are employed for the recording and reproducing section 2 and they have a common interface and a coupling device with the video camera section 1 respectively. Furthermore, companding circuits adopting two systems or over among the Motion JPEG, the MPEG(moving picture experts group) 1, the MPEG 2, the MPEG 4 and the DV format and its changeover switch are provided to the recording and reproducing section 2. |
