摘要 The wheel (8) carriage (4) is motor-driven (11) on parallel horizontal rails (6) by rack-and-pinion gears (9,10). It contains 3 drums (14) whose horizontal axes form an equilateral triangle. Bevel gear wheels on each drum, meshing with each other, ensure synchronised rotation of all when one is motor-driven. This rotation raises or lowers equally thin metal bands (21) wound round, and hanging from, each drum, supporting the load (1) through individually adjustable attachments (22). The load is, e.g. an instrument or tool carrying out observations, measurements or other operations on an irregularly shaped or previously unexamined body deposited in a large space, e.g. 10m cube. The CG(g) is placed vertically below the centre of the equilateral triangle of the drum axes.
