The electrophotographic unit includes a processing unit (106) for intermittent extraction of developer medium, to detect a driving condition of at least one of several drive motors of the developer medium transfer element (48) and the stirring element (46), which are driven at a specified rpm, if the developer is extracted, and to operate motors in an intermittent mode, until the detected value has reached a specified value. The developer medium is then extracted intermittently. A processing unit (108) is provided for a continuous extraction, to operate each of the drive motors in a continuous mode with a specified rpm. After the detected value of this operating condition has reached the specified value. So that the developer medium is continuously extracted.
