Control method for communication between a robot controller and peripheral equipment, which can easily identify the cause of occurrence of communication errors. Each time a communication error occurs, the states of a robot body (3) and a robot controller (1), that is, information on the position and attitude of the robot, the operation state of input/output devices, information to specify the program in execution, and the occurrence time of the communication error are stored and retained in a new log file. This log file is opened after finish of communication, and the condition of a data common to the occurrences of the communication errors is obtained, and the cause of occurrence of a communication error is estimated, and the cause is removed.
