The spring clip, which is attached to th rear of a brake pad, is used to attach the brake pad to the hollow piston which is used to apply the brake pad to the brake disc. The spring clip has spring arms (80) which extend at an angle from the back of the brake pad The spring arms are shaped so that they have a first ridge (84) which can engage with an annular groove in the bore of a hollow piston. The arms have a second ridge (86) with which it can engage behind a rim in the piston bore. The two ridges lie immediately behind one another and are at different diameters.
