1,208,557. Vehicle window electrically operated through reduction gearing. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DE MECANISMES. 3 March, 1969 [31 Dec., 1968], No. 11120/69. Heading E2M. A vehicle window operating mechanism comprises a mechanical window winder having a spindle 19, rotation of which raises or lowers the window, and an electric motor (32) connected to the spindle 19 by way of a reducton gear arrangement comprising a first gear wheel 20 secured coaxially on the spindle and a second gear wheel 26 adjacent and coaxial with the first, both wheels 20 and 26 being engaged by a radial drive pinion 22 adapted to be driven by the motor, and at least one differential pinion 27 disposed between and engaging the wheels. The gear wheels are contained in a housing 25 which is secured to a mounting plate 24 so as to enclose the casing 23 of the window winder, the mounting plate 24 and the motor (32) being fitted to a motor vehicle door (Fig. 1, not shown). The pinion 22 is driven by way of a dog coupling 28, a flexible cable 30 enclosed by a flexible outer sheath 31, and a second speed reducer (33), from the motor (32). Coupling between the spindle 19 and the first gear wheel 20 is provided by means of a washer 34 (see Fig. 8), and the gear unit is secured to the winder by means of a boss (38) (see Fig. 7). In the event of breakdown of the motor (32), the gear unit is disconnected by removing the boss (38), and a conventional handle may be fitted on to the screw-threaded end 42 of the spindle 19. |
