PURPOSE:To obtain the title coating material which can give a coating film excellent in hardness, strength and elongation by mixing an acrylic resin obtained from a specified acrylic monomer-containing monomer with a melamine resin. CONSTITUTION:An acrylic resin of an acid value of 10-35 and a hydroxyl value of 120-150 obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising 25-70wt.% acrylic monomer (e.g., lauryl methacrylate) which can form a coating film of a glass transition temperature <=-10 deg.C when homopoymerized, desirably at most 60wt.% acrylic monomer (e.g., n-butyl methacrylate or 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) which can form a coating film of a glass transition temperature above said glass transition temperature and desirably at most 35wt.% optional) ethylenically unsaturated monomer (e.g., styrene) is mixed with a melamine resin to obtain the title coating film which can form a coating film of an elonga tion of 5-15%. |
