<p>A purification process for effluents contg. pathogenic agents by treating with chemical disinfectant such as active Cl2, consists of removing from the effluent only a small proportion of the total solids by means of fixed or moving sieves, treating the remaining effluent with disinfectant in excess quantity in an agitating vessel for a short period and, separately from this, treating the sieved solids with disinfectant in excess quantity for a longer period in another agitating vessel. By this method the coarser solids, which require longest treatment, are reduced to a small volume, so that the large volume of remaining effluent requires only shorter treatment.</p> |
