PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce an image faithful to an input image signal by modulating the exposing time of a light source based on the logical product of a pulse subjected to pulse width modulation based on an image signal and a pulse of predetermined period thereby performing exposure with an exposing light having an appropriate period corresponding to the sensitivity of a photosensitive body. SOLUTION: A photosensitive conductor body 2 is supported rotatably clockwise as shown by an arrow and charged uniformly at a predetermined potential by a charging means 3 during rotating process thereof. When a surface to be charged is irradiated with a laser luminous flux L emitted from an exposing means 1, potential drops at the irradiated part to produce a partial potential difference for forming a latent image. The photosensitive surface on which a latent image is formed is then imparted with toner from selected one of developing means 4y, 4m, 4c or 4k to form a toner image. At the time of forming an image, a control section 20 controls the light source 1a of the exposing means 1 to perform exposure using a signal produced by superposing a pulse of predetermined period on a photosensitive pulse modulated based on image information. |
