PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording sheet which has high surface luster, outstanding ink absorption and reliable anti-marring. SOLUTION: This ink jet recording sheet has an ink-receptive layer consisting of a pseudo-boehmite-like alumina hydrate, formed on a support. The practical way to solve the structural issue is to provide at least, a silica layer containing a non-spherical silica particle on the ink receptive layer. To obtain satisfactory results in terms of recording efficiency, the non-spherical silica is used which is manufactured in a step to add an aqueous solution containing preferably 1500-8500ppm of water-soluble calcium salt, magnesium salt or a mixture of these salts in the weight ratio converted in terms of each of oxides for active silicic acid in a colloidal solution [(CaO+MgO)/SiO2 ] to the colloidal solution of the active silicic acid and further, add and alkali metal atom, an organic base or the silicate of an aqueous solution of these substances and heat these solutions. |
