As a result of the monitoring the distribution of the calculating capacity is activated over the picture so that an area around the fixation point is calculated with greater detail abundance than the area further from the fixation point. Furthermore, a number of momentary fixation points by the observer in the picture are monitored and form the basis for a prediction of the position for the subsequent fixation point. A determination is made as to in which area of the picture at the side of the fixation point great alteration occurs between consecutive pictures and a possible direction for such alterations. This knowledge is combined with that of the occurrence of a possible jerking and its directions so that a jerking is predicted in an area with great alteration or where great alteration can be expected.
