The transfer of heat from the cooling fluid to the atmospheric air through heat and material exchange occurs through direct contact. By means of a fan (6), the heat is fed in counter and/or cross flow through the trickle screens (3). At least one second fluid distributor conduit (4) is arranged at a distance from the first and beneath it. The cooling fluid, dependent upon the temperature of the heat receiving medium, is distributable to one or more fluid distribution conduits. The fluid distributor conduits are provided with spray nozzles (5).
