1352007 Vehicle safety belt DAIMLERBENZ AG 6 Aug 1971 [6 Aug 1970] 37096/71 Heading A3V A seat belt arrangement which allows adjustment of the position of a seat 2 fore and aft and vertically, with corresponding adjustment of the belt mounting on the vehicle floor, comprises a part 7, Figs. 1 and 2, having a toothed rack 5, which is pivotally secured to the vehicle floor by a bolt 13, and is slidable longitudinally in a sleeve 4 which sleeve is pivotally secured to the seat 2 at 3, and a part 8, having a rack 6 which is pivotally connected to the seat belt 29 at 19 and is constrained to move longitudinally and transversely of the sleeve, against the action of a spring 16, by means of pins 15 in the sleeve engaging in slots 14 in the part 8 so that on moving the seat the part 7 slides in the sleeve 4 and has no effect on the belt whereas tightening of the belt causes the part 8 to move in the sleeve so as to engage the rack teeth 5 and 6 and thus transmit tensioned loads in the belt to the floor. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4, a part 26, having a toothed rack 28, is secured to the vehicle floor by a bolt 33, and a part 22, connected to the belt 29, is pivotally connected to the seat 2 by a bolt 21 so that on tightening the belt the part 22 pivots anticlockwise as seen on Fig. 4, against the action of a spring 32, to-engage a hook 23, on the part 22, in the toothed rack 28. |
