PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize an engine speed in a low speed rotational range by a simple and inexpensive structure. SOLUTION: A controller for a 2 cycle engine, is equipped with explosion stroke position detecting means by which the position of an explosion stroke is detected, rotational speed detecting means by which the momentary rotational speed of a crankshaft is detected, and control means which is so programmed that it receives input from the explosion stroke position detecting means and rotational speed detecting means, discriminates a combustion state Xn by calculating the increasing rateΔNn of a crankshaft rotational speed Nn in each explosion stroke, and sets a combustion condition Zn in the next explosion stroke according to this combustion state Xn.
