PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hollow conjugate fiber for cushion, having excellent bulkiness and setting resistance while preventing the degradation of processability and productivity by setting a ratio of the area of the hallow part to the area of the inscribing circle of the hollow part to a level smaller than a specific level and applying a specific percentage crimp to the fiber. SOLUTION: This hollow conjugate fiber is a side-by-side conjugate fiber composed of a polyethylene terephthalate-type polyester copolymerized with 5-15mol% of a compound having a norbornane skeleton and expressed by the formula I or II (X1 and X2 are each CH2 OH or COOR; R is a lower alkyl; (m) is 0 or 1; X3 and X4 are each CH2 OH or COOR' (R' is a lower alkyl) such as norbornane-2,3-dimethanol or tricyclodecane dimethanol and other polyester. The ratio of the area (S1) of the hollow part to the area (S2) of the inscribing circle of the hollow part (S1/S2) is <=1.8 and the percentage crimp of the fiber is 25-40% after the dry-heat treatment at 180 deg.C for 5min. It is preferable to produce a cushion material by using the hollow conjugate fiber. |
