PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in the case a metal-ceramics composite material is continuously used as parts in alkaline soln. or in pure water since components such as Al, Mg or the like are eluted from a matrix in the composite material when it is immersed in an alkaline soln. or in pure water. SOLUTION: In a metal-ceramics composite material in which ceramics powder as a reinforcing material is dispersed into a matrix of metal, the surface of the composite material is coated with a coating layer composed of organic matter such as 'Teflon(R)', ceramics such as SiC, Al2 O3 or the like or metal such as stainless having >=1$μm thickness. In the method for producing the composite material, as the method for applying the coating layer, a melting method, a PVD method, a CVD method or a plating method is used.
