PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium for recording at high packing density with small crosstalk. SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium comprising a recording layer containing dye for absorbing a laser beam directly or via other layer on a transparent board having grooves, and a metal reflecting layer directly or via other layer on the recording layer, when r indicates a diameter of a recording beam represented by λ/NA [here, λ is a recording wavelength (μm), NA indicates numerical aperture of an objective lens], P (μm) indicates a pitch of grooves on the board, and Wg (μm) indicates a width of the groove, the Wg and P satisfy 0.24r<=Wg<=0.35r, 0.69r<=P<=0.83r, and dye contained in the recording layer is azo compound represented by a formula I, or its metal complex.
