The assembly to collect blood at a surgical site, and give it a coarse cleaning action, has an expanding plastics bag (3) with a lid to hold the collecting blood and protect it and for temporary transport. The filter sieve (7) extends into the bag. A suction connection (12) at the cover (2) gives a vacuum through a channel (13) in the cover (2), in the space between the outer surface of the bag (3) and the inner surface of the container (1). The suction connection (12) has a discharge over the cover (2), linked to the interior of the bag through a transducer filter and a two-way tap. The container (1) is of polycarbonate for sterilising in an autoclave. |
