PURPOSE:To form a lined refractory layer having a high quality without the generation of cracks and explosive breakage of the lined refractory by drying the lined amorphous refractory within a specific raising temperature range when the amorphous refractory is lined on the inner surface of a container for a melted metal and subsequently drying the lined refractory. CONSTITUTION:When an amorphous refractory is lined on the inner surface of a container for a melted metal, such as a ladle, tundish or metal mixing wheel, the amorphous refractory is lined, heated, dried and baked. When the lined amorphous refractory is therein heated, the flexural strength of the material is preliminarily determined at the real temperature at the time within the temperature range of the ordinary temperature to 250 deg.C of the refractory and the heating drying temperature is controlled so as to give a vapor pressure of 1/25 of the flexural strength until the refractory is baked from the ordinary temperature to the 250 deg.C, and the refractory is heated at the ordinary raising temperature rate of 10-30 deg.C. The amorphous refractory not generating any crack and explosive cracks is lined on the container. |
