PURPOSE:To execute the speed change control to meet the intension of a driver even in the case of the delay in the braking system by making a judgement that the engine is in the braking operation after the brake pedal is returned, while by stopping the inference of the intention of deceleration of the driver when the brake is not applied. CONSTITUTION:An ECU 50 controls solenoid valves 54-60 based on the respective outputs from sensors 40, 41 to detect the running condition of an internal combustion engine 10, a brake switch 44, a range selector switch 46, a kickdown switch 48 or the like. Hydraulic clutches C1-C4 of a gear mechanism 22 in a transmission 14 and a lock-up mechanism 16c of a torque converter 16 are controlled thereby. In this case, the ECU 50 infers the intension of deceleration of a driver according to the rules based on the operational parameters. The speed change ratio is controlled stepwise or steplessly according to the inferred results. In addition, a judgement is made that the brake is in operation even after the brake pedal is returned, and the inference is stopped when the brake is not applied. |
