PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming apparatus which can decrease the number of signal lines for connecting an engine controller and a driver. SOLUTION: A laser driver 103 driving a laser diode 105 requires an enable signal (/ENB), a compulsory laser emission signal (/LON), a sample/hold signal (S/H) for the stabilization of the amount of laser beams and an image mask signal (/MASK) from an engine controller 104, in addition to a /DATA signal from a video controller 102 which is obtained by developing an image to bit amp data. The /ENB, /LON, S/H and /MASK are coded altogether in the engine controller 104, and sent to the laser driver 103 via signal lines CNTRL0, CNTRL 1. Required /ENB, /LON, S/H, /MASK are then decoded in the laser driver 103. |
