PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optional information recording medium which shows high light resistance and durability even after recording without adversely affecting record regenerating properties. SOLUTION: This information recording medium has a recording layer containing an organic coloring matter and an organic oxidizing agent and further, a light reflective layer formed on the recording layer. In this case, the organic oxidizing agent shows reduction potential of -0.2 volt or higher, and the organic coloring matter and the organic oxidizing agent are combined so that the difference between the oxidation potential (b) volt of the organic coloring matter and the reduction potential (a) volt of the organic oxidizing agent meets the relationship of 0.6<b-a<1.0. Alternatively, the organic coloring matter and the organic oxidizing agent are combined so that the maximum absorptive wavelength of the organic oxidizing agent exists to the short wavelength side by 50nm or more from the maximum absorptive wavelength of the organic coloring matter. Another option is that the organic oxidizing agent and a cyanine coloring matter of a specific structure are combined for the use of this medium. |
