PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the light emission of the edge of a light emission part from becoming irregular and to obtain uniform light emission, by making the size of the outside circumference of a parallel light sheet made to be adhered and fixed to a light guiding plate through an adhesive sheet smaller than the size of the outside circumferences of the light guiding plate and the adhesive sheet. SOLUTION: When a light source unit is driven, the light of a lamp is made incident on the light guiding plate 5 from an end surface. The incident light is reflected by a reflection sheet and made incident on the light non-emitting surface of a transmission type liquid crystal display element after it is arranged in parallel by the parallel light sheet 7 and the emitting direction thereof is fixed. Then, a picture displayed by the transmission type liquid crystal display element driven based on picture data is displayed bright by being illuminated by a back light. In a light guiding unit, since the sheet 7 does not project from the outside circumferences of the plate 5 and the adhesive sheet 6, the sheet 7 is prevented from being partially peeled if external force is imposed on the sheet 7 when the light guiding unit is handled.
