A wood splitting device comprises a stand (1), a knife device (2) having a horizontal main knife (12) and a plurality of help knives (14) on the underside thereof, a holder (3) for wood blocks having a lying fibre direction as well as means for achieving longitudinal relative motion between the knife device (2) and the holder (3). The stand (1) comprises a horizontal table (7) along which a frame (3) serving as holder is, together with a block lying therein, movable to and fro along with a pressing device (22) which is pressable against an end surface of the block, more precisely by means of a hydraulic cylinder (4). The knife device (2) is mounted on free ends of a pair of arms (16), which are turnable in relation to the table (7) via hinges (17) and placed in a position outside a front edge of the table (7). |
