A TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM, A CHANNEL SELECTION PROTOCOL, AND A RADIO STATION

Known is a telecommunications system such as a full duplex cordless CT0 or CT1 telephone system. For such a system, a reliable connection set up is needed both for paired and unpaired duplex channels. A double checking protocol is proposed in which the calling and the called party interact with each other such that it is ascertained that a free channel pair is obtained. After setting up of the radio link, the calling party may confirm to the called party that it has established that a reliable radio link has been set up. In the double checking protocol, various time outs are defined so as to prevent any party from endless waiting.
