Linear drive with position determining arrangement

The axially displaceable output section (12) of a linear drive incorporates a member (54) in the form of a stop (57). This stop determines the axial position of the output unit. The position is specified by a retaining rod (77) carrying a counter-stop (58) which can be rotated about its longitudinal axis by an associated switch-over device (84). The counter-stop may be moved between a position in which it projects into the displacement path of the stop and a position in which it does not interfere with the movement of the stop. Preferably, the rod can be positioned in at least two angular positions by the switch-over device, which is in the form of a stepping drive.
