DIAGNOSIS OF PRION DISEASES

Prion diseases, in which abnormal prions are implicated, are detected or measured by taking a blood sample from an animal or human and separating therefrom mononuclear cells. The abnormal prions are detected in the cell lysate or after isolating prion protein therefrom by any known technique, especially immunologically using antibodies to abnormal prion protein and enhanced chemiluminescent assay or immuno-PCR.
