PURPOSE:To obtain the inclined orientation having a stable and large pretilt angle without using a special device by constituting the liquid crystal oriented film of specific polyimide. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal oriented film is formed of the polyimide contg. the repeating unit expressed by formula formula I and the repeating unit expressed by formula II as its essential components. In the formulas I, II, X is selected from -O-, formula III to V; r denotes 0 or 1; R<1> denotes 4 to 20C alkyl group or fluoroalkyl group; R<2> denotes a quadrivalent residual org. group; R<3> denotes a bivalent residual org. group; ratio of m/n is 1/99 to 80/20. The liquid crystal oriented film which can develop the stable and large inclined orientation without sacrificing the other characteristics of the liquid crystal oriented film in this way. |
