Protecting building parts from fire

Building components are protected from fire by being coated with a material that under the effect of heat, slows down the heating up of the component to be protected by ablative cooling. Preferably the ablating material is aluminium or magnesium hydroxide and is used with an inorganic binder such as calcium silicate or aluminate or ferrite. An insulating fire protection mortar is used that contains endothermic fillers and fibres.
