The invention relates to an explosive substance for non-military use, notably mining, consisting of granulated ammonium nitrate and at least one carbon compound, particularly mineral and/or mineral oil products, whereby at least one of the following substances is added as additional ingredient or ingredients: at least 2 weight percent of used oil and/or heavy fractions of crude oil distillation and/or derivatives thereof containing a high proportion of oxygenated hydrocarbon compounds of high molecular weight; at least approximately 10 weight percent of ammonium nitrate particles with a particle size not exceeding approximately 2 mm; at least approximately 1 weight percent of ground bone grit with a grit size of approximately between 2 and 4 mm; at least approximately 1 volume percent of pneumatically introduced air bubbles, in such a way that the explosive substance has a density between 0.8 and 1.5 g/cm<3>. The explosive matter is both suitable for blasting dense rock and economical, since sensitivity and explosive power are increased by simple, low-cost means.
