The resulting continuous feline embryonic heteroploid cell line may be employed in propagating and attenuating viruses. Antigenic material consisting of attenuated or inactivated viruses can be presented as a vaccine in association with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier such as an aqueous saline solution or a solid carrier containing a stabilizer such as degraded gelatin and sorbitol. A freeze-drying excipient may be included. Cat leukaemia virus is additionally mentioned in the Specification.
