摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy method for aiming at protection of an operator against secondary collision by regulating a contractive load as its required value. SOLUTION: In the case of this method, the tip end part of a tubular outer shaft 12 on whose inside peripheral surface a female serration 15 is formed and that of an inner shaft 13 on whose outside peripheral surface a male serration 17 is formed are engaged with each other. Subsequently, by means of a pair of pressing piece 20a, for defining the pressing surface as mutually parallel planar surface 23, the tip end parts of both shafts 12, 13 are subjected to plastic deformation across the radial direction. And these both shafts 12, 13 are deformed in such a direction as approaching to each other and these both shafts 12, 13 themselves are fitted in two positions separated from each other in axial direction. By means of a pair of pressing pieces 20a, the load for pressing the tip end parts of both shafts 12, 13 is adjusted so as to regulate the contractive load on an impact absorbing type steering shaft 11 obtained by adjusting the load for pressing the tip end parts of both shafts 12, 13.
