PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply produce the subject compound useful as a synthetic intermediate, etc., for medicines by reacting a specific 3-hydroxysteroid derivative with phthalimide and then reacting the resultant compound with hydrazine hydrate or phenylhydrazine. SOLUTION: A 3-hydroxysteroid derivative represented by formula I [R<1> is a 1-4C alkyl, an R<4> -O group (R<4> is a 1-4C alkyl or phenylalkyl) or a (substituted) 1-10C alkyl; R<2> is anα-OH orβ-OH] is reacted with phthalimide to provide a 3-phthalimide derivative represented by formula II. The resultant compound is then reacted with hydrazine hydrate or phenylhydrazine to simply produce the objective 3-aminosteroid derivative useful as a synthetic intermediate, etc., for medicines in high yield.
