PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel polypeptide that comprises a polypeptide including a specific amino acid sequence produced by mouse marrow stroma cells and is useful for prevention and treatment of bone dysbolism, inflammatory diseases, infections, cancers, leukemia, AIDS and the like and for tissue repair. SOLUTION: This novel polypeptide is produced by mouse marrow stroma cells substantially in the pure form having the amino acid sequence represented by the formula, further contains its homologue, their fragments or homologues of these fragments, and is useful for prevention and treatment of bone dysbolism, inflammatory diseases, reduction in hematopoietic stem cells, after transplantation of bone marrow, reduction in white blood cells, platelet and lymphocytes, anemia, infections, cancers, leukemia, AIDS and the like. This polypeptide is prepared by isolating mRNA from mouse marrow stroma cells, preparing cDNA library, screening the library using this cDNA fragment as a probe, incorporating the collected gene into a vector and expressing the gene in the host cells.
