PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intelligibly display a distance between a self-vehicle and an object by specifying that a display state and a display position on a display means of the linear object observed by an observing means change in accordance with positional relations between the vehicle and the object. SOLUTION: A camera 5 supported by a bumper 20 is adjusted by driving a revolving mechanism so that a line of sight becomes θ against the front of a vehicle, and the camera monitors left and right directions of the vehicle by looking down the front below of the vehicle from a point of height H above the road surface U. When the vehicle advances, a white line W comes into a visual field for observation and is displayed in a monitor. When images provided from both of the visual fields are displayed by aligning them left and right, at the time when the white line is far, they are observed as a white line bent in an inverted V letter shape on a display image. In the meantime, when the camera is too close to the objects, they are observed as a white line bent in a V letter shape on the display image. When positional relations between the vehicle and the white line are proper, a straight continued line is observed on the display image. |
