<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a freshness retaining material capable of delaying the spoilage of water sticking to perishables in order to retain the freshness of the perishables, etc., by coating an air-permeable material with a porous inorganic silicate compound. SOLUTION: This freshness retaining material is produced by coating an air-permeable material (preferably synthetic resin having a three-dimensional network skeletal structure or a woven fabric or a nonwoven fabric of organic and/or inorganic fibers) with a porous inorganic silicate compound. The porous inorganic silicate compound which is a silicate compound such as Oya-Ishi (green tuff produced in Oya, Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture in Japan), granite prophyry or a zeolite is contained in an amount of >=20wt.% expressed in terms of SiO2 in the freshness retaining material and is made to stick to the air-permeable material by coating or impregnating.</p> |
