<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head which eliminates the printing irregularity caused by the irregularity of the voltage drop of wiring based on an external connection terminal at the time of the time-division driving of a drive IC. SOLUTION: In a thermal head wherein heating resistors 6 and external connection terminals 10 are formed on an insulating substrate, the numbers of dots of divided blocks at a time when a plurality of dots constituting the heating resistors 6 are divided into a predetermined number of blocks to perform time-division driving are set so that the number of dots of the divided block remote from the external connection terminals becomes smaller than that of the divided block near to the external connection terminals 10. A strobe 1 controls the drive ICs of the divided blocks of the heating resistors 6 on the side of the external connection terminals 10 to supply a current to 512 dots from a dot 1 to a dot 512 and a strobe 4 controls the drive IC of the block most separated from the external connection terminals 10 to supply a current to 320 dots from a dot 1409 to a dot 1728.</p> |
