PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool in which weight of a main shaft case as an assembly can be light, and in which balance adjustment of the main shaft case is easy. SOLUTION: For a main shaft case 3, point-abutted force of an engagement part to a guide surface of a column is applied by a moment L1×F based on gravity applied to a gravity center of it, where energization force P of a spring 40 is adjusted by a bolt 37 to be applied against above moment. The energization force P of the spring 40 is reaction-supported by rolling of a bearing 32 getting in contact with one guide surface 25 to be applied on the main body case 3 through a support part 34. The energization force P of the spring 40 is thus applied to balance with gravity applied to the main body case 3, thereby the main body case 3 is smoothly moved vertically without being point- abutted to the guide surface of the column 2.
