PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honing machine dispensing with a means for detecting the contact state of a grinding wheel with a workpiece short in a machining cycle and able to control the cutting quantity accurately. SOLUTION: A horn 6 is mounted to a rotary shaft 5 rotated and reciprocated, and the horn 6 is enlarged in diameter to bring a grinding wheel 7 into contact with a workpiece 40 to grind it. A honing machine of such constitution is provided with a hydraulic cylinder 9 supported in an advancing/retreating state to a frame 4 so as to advance/retreat a rod 8 piercing the main shaft 5 in an axially advancing/retreating state so as to enlarge/contract the diameter of the horn 6, a motor 10 connected to the hydraulic cylinder 9 through a gear system 11 so as to advance/retreat the hydraulic cylinder 9, a locking means 12 for locking the hydraulic cylinder 9, a control means 20 for controlling the hydraulic cylinder 9 and locking means 12, and a control means 28 for controlling the motor 10. |
