PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractory material for casting having a new compsn. and having the same or higher mechanical strength as that of a conventional refractory material for casting, and to provide its producing method. SOLUTION: This refractory material for casting contains at least titanium nitride by 3 to 25wt.%. The titanium nitride forms a bonded structure of the matrix and the material has >=40MPa bending strength. This refractory material for casting is produced by adding an org. binder in a mixture powder containing refractory powders of 5 to 40wt.% titania powder, 3 to 20wt.% aluminum powder and the balance alumina, kneading the mixture, compacting and calcining at 1200 to 1600 deg.C in a nitrogen atmosphere. |
